Language Courses
German Course
The German course for beginners at A1 level takes place throughout the lecture period and provides basic instruction in the four language competencies: reading, listening, writing and speaking . It covers essential topics such as greetings, numbers, family and dining out. This comprehensive curriculum aims to develop fundamental language skills necessary for communication in everyday situations.
The course is open to beginners only and corresponds to 6 ECTS. There will be a written exam at the end of the course.
German courses (during the semester)
Beginners
Students who have completed the German intensive course are eligible to enroll in the subsequent course. The curriculum focuses on practical scenarios such as university routines, appointments, personal arrangements, supermarket interactions, travel, work and business engagements. Grammar instruction covers questioning structures, personal pronouns, the past tense of "to be", modal verbs, the use of connecting words and prepositions with time expressions. This course aims to further enhance students' language proficiency and confidence in various real-life situations.
The course corresponds to 3 ECTS. There will be a written exam at the end of the course.
Advanced
Students who have an advanced German level can participate in an advanced course at another university in Karlsruhe. If you are unsure which course is right for you, please contact the International Office to get more information.
