In March/September, the Orientation Weeks take place, providing opportunities to acquaint yourselves with fellow students, the university, Karlsruhe, and surrounding cities. Concurrently, the German Intensive Course and other lectures are scheduled. The orientation weeks are obligatory.

Arriving at Karlsruhe Main Station, you'll be welcomed by your designated buddy or a representative who will accompany you to your dormitory or arranged accommodation. If your arrival falls on a weekend or public holiday, arrangements will be made for a smooth key handover to ensure direct access to your room. To simplify the coordination of the pick-up, please let your buddy know your arrival time in advance and inform them immediately of any changes.

All international students have to register in Karlsruhe within two weeks after their arrival.

We will organize group appointments for registration during the orientation weeks. You can go there as group and at least one buddy will accompany you and help with translation. It is highly recommended to join one of them, as the waiting time for an appointment can be couple of weeks and being registered is necesssary to open a bank account in Germany.

Students are required to bring their passports as well their enrollment certificate and a document called “Wohnungsgeberbestätigung” which will be provided by your landlord.
